Fiber Arts Education

Fiber Arts Education is central to the mission of the SWFAC. Our members receive first chance to fill our classes. If classes are not filled with members, we advertise them to other fiber artists and to the public. Our most recent class was Nuno Felting. Please reach out to Mary at information@fiberartscollective.org if you would like to lead a class or have an idea for a class for which you’d like SWFAC to identify an instructor. Fees charged for the classes go to the instructor.

Mark Your Calendars for SWFAC’s Upcoming Creative Class – Weave Your Own Onion Basket

Learn how to weave your own Onion Basket with SWFAC’s own Alice Fujita, of BasketBana LLC. In this class, participants will weave an onion basket, made with natural rattan material.   The onion basket was the first woven basket that Alice created after learning this art, which resulted in her falling in love with basket weaving. Alice hopes you will fall in love with it too. You do not need to know any skills of how to weave baskets to join this class. Accommodating 15 students (8 minimum), this class will be held on Saturday January 24, 2026 from 10am-1pm at The Grant County Rolling Stones Clubhouse on Memory Lane. A completed registration form with the $20 class fee can be given to Mary Ragins or Charmeine Wait by the registration deadline of January 8, 2026.
