Introduction to Inkle Loom Weaving
Saturday, May 1, 9 am-noon

Class Description
Learn basic inkle weaving: how to read a pattern, warp the inkle loom, and weave a length of material that can be used to make a belt, strap, or whatever your imagination desires.

Hand-Painted Silk Gift/Wine Bags Class
Saturday, May 15, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Instructor: Sandy Hopper
Cost: $25(Member)/$30(Nonmember)
Plus $25 materials fee (2 gift bags)

Class Description
Create your very own unique silk gift/wine bags. 
All materials provided to make two beautiful silk bags using
a soy wax resist technique.

Painting a Sun Hat Workshop
Sunday, May 16 OR Sunday, June 27,
OR Sunday, July 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Instructor: Blythe Whiteley

Class Description
Paint a collapsible cotton sun hat in an inspiring garden setting.  Brush painting, heliographic printing, and salt techniques will be demonstrated.  An organic “u-pick” salad lunch is included!

Color for Quilters
Thursdays, May 20 & 27, June 3, 10, 17, & 24

Required book: “Color and Cloth,” by Mary Coyne Penders

Class Description
Come to a better understanding of the effective use of color in quilts through examples and hands-on color exercises.  Understanding the universal art harmonies and the effects of color will help you with this challenging step of the quilt making process.  The class is based on the required book, “Color and Cloth,” and has homework.

Dyeing Cotton Fabric Using Procion Dyes
Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Instructor: Donna Sebastian
Cost: $40 SWFAC Members/$50 Nonmembers
Plus $30 materials fee

Class Description
Take the guesswork out of color mixing. You will dye cotton fabric using techniques to help achieve control over the resulting colors. 4 yards of cotton fabric are include in the materials fee. The class will cover the basics of the dyeing process, and dye safety will be emphasized.

Papermaking 101 
Saturday, June 12, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Instructor: Veronique De Jaegher
Cost: $20 (Member)/$30(Nonmember)
Plus $20 materials fee

Class Description
In a vat of water, we will float Cotton, Linen and/or hemp linter
(pre-made pulp that we will re-hydrate and blend),
Kozo (boiled mulberry bark that we will beat to a pulp)
Then we can add color and texture with dried flowers,
leaves or whatever... We will learn to form 8" x 11.5" sheets of paper with deckle and mold, then couch, press and dry them.

Hand Painting Yarn and Fiber

Class Description
This class will cover the basics of chemical dyes and making a beautiful variegated yarn or spinning fiber.  We will work with
color schemes and discuss how to get the effect you might
want from a photograph, magazine picture, or some colors
you have in mind to use.

Spinning Basics or Beyond
Saturday, July 10, 10 am-2 pm
Instructor: Lynnae McConaha
Cost: $25 (Member)/$30(Nonmember)
Plus $10 materials fee

Class Description
We will discuss the basics of the spinning wheel.  Beginning spinners will learn fiber preparation, different spinning techniques and how to make the fuzz into yarn.  More experienced spinners will learn to make a consistently even yarn and we can also go into novelty techniques if we get that far!

Getting On and Off the Train: Knitting Cast-On’s and Bind-Off’s 
Tuesday, July 27, 1- 3 p.m.
Instructor: Sandra Jefferies
Cost: $15 (Member)/$20(Nonmember)

Class Description
This workshop will introduce a variety of Cast On’s and Bind Offs including a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each.  Knowing the appropriate method for your project and being able to execute it properly will help you achieve more than just satisfactory results.

Knitted Tea Cozy Workshop
Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Instructor: Sandra Jefferies
Cost: $20 (Member)/$25(Nonmember)
Plus $3 materials fee

Class Description
Design a one-of-a-kind tea cozy to fit your teapot, whether short or stout.  Simple math will be involved but everyone will get it!  The class also includes some of Sandra’s favorite tea food recipes, how to brew a proper pot of tea, and a scientific study demonstrating the value of using a tea cozy!
